Colchester Regional Hospital |
The greenfield master plan takes advantage of the unusual topography on the 33 acre sloped site to deliver effective and creative solutions for convenient parking, site circulation, shipping and receiving, and storm water management. In an effort to ensure maximum value-for-dollar, the master plan divided the new hospital into three separate but interconnected buildings: an ambulatory care building that can be constructed at a lower unit cost; a regular robust 9x9 grid diagnostic and treatment block; and independently stacked buildings housing in-patient units. The new 124-bed replacement hospital will provide surgical, mental health, intensive care, maternal child services, diagnostic and treatment, emergency and ambulatory care services.
