Farrow Partners Present at Cape Town Symposium

TORONTO, October 27, 2011 - Two partners from Farrow Partnership Architects presented at the Design & Health International Symposium & Workshop held in Cape Town, South Africa, on 25-26 October, 2011. Senior partner Tye Farrow presented Farrow’s design for the South African Health Promoting Lifestyle Centre to the Minister of Health. Partner Nadia Tobia’s presentation was part of the session, “Health Challenges in Emerging Economies” during the first day of the event.

Tye Farrow’s presentation showcased Farrow Partnership’s innovative design for the Health Promoting Lifestyle Centres, which embodies a salutogenic (health-creating) approach to addressing physical, mental, social and spiritual dimensions of well being. Inspired by South Africa’s national flower, the Protea, Farrow Partnership’s design responds to the innate human desire for strong connections to the natural world while supporting the diverse range of programs and services conducive to living a healthy life in each of the communities.

Nadia Tobia and Dr. Moin Fikree MD, Clinical Director, Emergency & Trauma Center, Rashid Hospital, United Arab Emirates, presented “Achieving Award-Winning Results Together: A client and architect’s collaborative approach.” Their presentation focused on ways in which a cohesive team can plan and design a health-related project to reach inspirational, exemplary results that are rewarding for all stakeholders involved in the process.

“It was an honour to co-present with Dr. Fikree,” Tobia said, “bringing a global perspective regarding collaboration on a design and health project to the symposium.”
