Singapore Congress: Focus on Design Quality Standards

on June 25, 2009, Tye Farrow presented research at Design & Health's 6th World Congress

Tye Farrow's presentation, at the International Academy for Design and Health’s 6th World Congress in Singapore, focused on research regarding a methodology that builds strong support for human-centric design standards. His session, INTANGIBLES: Bringing Hospitals to Life Through Design Quality Standards, laid out specific approaches for setting and implementing such standards.

To determine the effectiveness of Farrow’s methodology, Angus Reid Strategies conducted qualitative research interviews with senior health care client representatives. One of the significant findings from this study was that a learning process was judged by participants to be more effective for creating human-centric design standards than efforts to achieve buy-in for the architects’ design.
